Hello, my 1983 ranger's tranny is shot. My friend is parting out his 1985 lincoln town car's transmission. It is a C4. My Ranger has a 302 in it now. Will the lincoln's tranny fit in my truck?
I C4 will fit no problem. What all is done to your truck? 2wd or 4x4? If its a 4x4 you may as well have that C4 or your current trans rebuilt. To swap the tail shaft you have to pull pretty much the entire transmission apart. Do you know what transmission is in there now? If it's a 3 speed auto it's either a C4 or C6. If the bellhousing is cast into the transmission it's a C6. If a 4 speed auto your only option is an AOD, everything else is computer controlled. Reguardless a C4 is a nice fit in a Ranger.
Sweet! I was told the lincoln's tranny might be too short or too long and I'd have to cut or extend my drive shaft. I hope thats not an issue. Thanks for the help guys! I'll come back if I need any more. Cheers
