Hey, I was trolling the forums and noticed the sticky in the steering section saying my B2 power steering pump is supposed to run ATF, not power steering fluid...
So my question is this - Would running power steering fluid hurt anything?
I have two used B2s (as opposed to a new one, right? lol) and as far as I am aware they have always been run with PS fluid, and not ATF in the box. (at least for the last many years, since they last saw a ford tech for warranty or something)

Is there a good way to flush my stuff, to run ATF in it?

Thanks.
Matt

power steering fluid will be fine. if you really want to change the fluid go to a shop and have them use a power steering fluid exchanger.

It's all I use. Lots of people on here say use ATF, but I've never used it.

Type F ATF is the factory fluid. Universal P/S fluid meets all the fluid specs for Type F's functions in the P/S system.

Don't tell anyone, but it can also work the other way in a pinch. I've used universal P/S fluid to top off a Chevy 350 Hydromatic to get it down the road to the shop and fix the pan gasket leak.

P/S fluid is all I've ever used in my 88 B II and my 84 Ranger. Never had a problem except the B II had leaky hoses, hence why I had to put fluid in it regularly.
