First off the truck is a 2002 Ranger 3.0 2x4 with the 5R44E I believe.

The issue I am having is not persistent, just once in a great while. But when I am turning a corner at lowspeeds 1st or 2nd gear it will hold the gear till I have completed the turn. The corners are more than 90°. I have tried Goggling it but no avail. If any one has any ideas pleas let me know. and if you require more information please let me know.

Thanks, Sammy D

I had a 94 ranger with the auto in it and it would go out of gear when cold when turning left I believe. Was told it was seals that had started to go bad. When truck was warmed up it didnt have that problem. Seals when cold didnt allow for the pressure to build up to shift to higher gear. Does yours do it turning right and left?

The Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch monitors the hydraulic pressure within the power steering system. The PSP switch is a normally closed switch that opens as the hydraulic pressure increases The PCM uses the input signal from the PSP switch to compensate for additional loads on the engine by adjusting the idle rpm and preventing engine stall during parking maneuvers. Also, the PSP switch signals the PCM to adjust transmission electronic pressure control (EPC) pressure during the increased engine load, for example during parking maneuvers.

I think this is what's going on. Normal operation.

That would explain alot about the psp ill try and replicate it and get back to you

Mine does the exact opposite it stays in gear until I complete my turn. This is warm or cold, just it is spontaneous when it occurs.
