I found this on an explorer forum on greasing the slip yoke to elimate the thump starting out and stopping. Mine needs greased again and obviously this would be quicker than dropping the driveshaft but I would think it needs a little thicker grease than this spray they are using. Has anyone tried this or have any idea how this would work?

It seem just a little too easy if you ask me.

i think that the lat reply to that thread is pretty much dead on.
I think they recommend NLGI No. 3 grease, the same gray moly grease as what you put in other suspension parts with zerks or bearings (ball joints, tie rods, bearing/hubs, etc.). WD-40 will wear and wash away, even with the boot on. White lith will work for a while but white lith, even marine white lith is non-permanent and more prone to washing and evap. after months and months of use.
Gray moly won't.

the white lithium is gonna be too thin to last for very long. it may be good at first, but it certainly wont stay that way for as long.
