will a 3.0 ranger starter work in a taurus?

i was wondering if anyone knew if a starter from a 3.0 ranger would work in a 3.0 taurus ('93 vulcan) damn thing went out again, last one was almost 4 years ago, but still if i have more options if i need to go to the salvage yard, it sure would be easier than crawling under a taurus in the mud and weeds. im hopeing that this last one i bought had a lifetime warranty, but im not even sure which parts store i got it from, first trip tommarrow is off to the local stores to see if its still in their records. but im sure i wont get off that easy, cheapest rebuilt for it is around $100. so i think i may have to get one from a junkyard, hate to, but options are limited, along with cash.

well, i still dont know about the starter interchange, but its irrelavant now, got to checking and from what i could tel from the numbers on the starter i had a lifetime guarantee starter from advance auto, took it in in the a.m. and sure enough, they bench tested it to confirm it was dead and i walked out with another rebuilt unit.maybe thid one will go another 4 years. the car has new tires so i plan to keep it awhile longer.
