In need of an ecu. Only thing I could find at my pick a part yard was a mazda b4000 with a 5 speed and 4.0l engine, just like my ranger. However the mazda is a 97 and my ranger is a 98.

Will this ecu run right? The little research I did is showing that 95-97 mazdas will work with 96 rangers and the 98-99 mazdas work with mine. So I think I have the wrong one, anyone confirm this or have experienced with it?

Has to be the SAME PN# as yours. Just as an example, if you've got a F4TE-12A650-AA, then that's what you need.

Yes, you should be fine.
Manual trans is the same and engine size is the same, should be Plug n' Play.

However '97/'98 is when some 4.0l ford trucks went from 35psi return fuel system to 65psi returnless, not sure that will matter to the computer, but don't know for sure
