My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
I got 38 gallons of diesel in the 'Stroke and the WIF light is on. Only got 1/4" of water out of the water separator as measured in a standard 20oz coke bottle. I only drove about 6 miles after the light came on.

The fuel has been sitting in the truck for 6 weeks. Do I need to drain the tanks or is there a fuel additive I can add to the fuel to disperse the water or since I don't have a HFPH and run a quart of ND30w oil in every tank at every fill up would I be fine just driving it out and just draining the water separator.........

I don't want to throw away 38 gallons of diesel specially since I have no way to dispose of it. I guess I could put it in the big rig because it seems to be more tolerant of contaminated fuel.

Do not add anything to the fuel for a pstroke. The engine does not like it. You are OK just draining the water separator and running the remaining fuel out,but keep draining the water separator as the light comes on. I would also open the fuel filter drain and drain all that out as well if you have water in the fuel. The stroker is a very reliable engine if you treat it properly.

thats what I thought thank you.

alright ......... still got a WIF light, now its on solid. my tanks were near empty yesterday so I unhooked the fuel lines at the lift pump and hooked up my spare electric lift pump from my old 6.5 turbo...... pumped 3 gallons from the front and 1 gallon from the back. put in clean fuel from a 5 gallon can, drained the water separator and changed the fuel filter. drove to the gas station and the wif light is still on........ pumped a total of 31 gallons (plus the 5 gallon can)....... still got wif light. I can't see the last 3 places I have bought fuel having water in the fuel.

I did keep a sample of the of the fuel that came out of the water separator, and I still got the 4 gallons I drained (no way to dispose of it)..... how does one test diesel fuel for water?

The test for water in diesel is to let it sit in a bottle for 5 minutes and then look at it. Water doesn't stay mixed with the fuel for long.

The most common cause that I have seen for the WIF light staying on is the sensor itself.

I don't remember what year/engine your truck has but I know on the 6.0/6.4 trucks with the HFCM the WIF sensor is in it's own little pocket and all the gook doesn't always drain out when you drain the separator. It sits in there and turns into gum and you have to take the sensor out, take the HFCM cover off and flush the pocket out with brake cleaner and replace the sensor since the tip corrodes up.

well then its the sensor...... no water in the fuel I drained out.
