okay im not being a dick but why the hell does it seem like most of you guys are putting sbc in a ford and ive seen a couple videos and a few said they only have 200 hp now im definitly not a chevy guy my truck makes 300 rw and will shift my aod threw the gears off the rev limiter baking posi and blow donuts that compete with mustangs my ? is why o why would you put a chebby in a ford when ford raigns supreme :icon_hornsup:

ford does not "reign" (correct spelling) horsepower per dollar ford will never compete with chevy. If you have unlimited $ it's not an issue but those of us in the real world are making a smarter choice. Fords are more expensive period my 425+hp 350 cost $700 to build dollar for dollar new chev parts are much cheaper than for a ford

it's an inferiority complex that we have.....and we transfer it to our vehicles by putting SBC's in them......that's what my V.A. Shrink told me.....

(personally, I think it originated during the Viet Nam war....when I ran out of ammo, I had to throw quart cans of oil at the N.V.A. soldiers who were firing at us with their A.K.47's....but I could be wrong).

Next question?

BULL SHIT. Plain and simple. I've built a 390 Ford that would tow your 350 around backwards for less money. And half that was in the headers. :icon_rofl:

but baddad......you got to take into consideration the fact that......you know what you're doing.....

I did nothing other than a simple "overhaul" of a 58,000 mile 2 bbl 390 pulled from a 68 Merc. And added a Crane Energizer cam, a stock 428PI intake, topped with a 3310 750 Holley. Headers were FPA's.

oh crap I didn't notice it was you baddad. I already definitively showed you with page after page of comparisons on this very subject.......you are a lost-freaking-cause. I will not be logging back onto this thread. You still didn't get it last time after 7 pages where even the moderator said "cammeddrz is right". I'm not going down that road again

I have $2k TOTAL in my truck project. I rebuilt the 302 in the truck for less than $600 and that was with buying a new intake manifold and a nicer harmonic balancer. It makes ~300 hp. I don't think there is anyway possible to duplicate my build for less money using a Chevy motor. Christ's sake, Car Craft couldn't even rebuild a 350 for less than $650... Personally, even though I am a Ford guy, Chevrolet engines are just more complicated. Why the the hell would you number the cylinders 1-3-5-7 and not 1-2-3-4. I would think that would make more sense. Don't even get me started with the whole distributor on the back of the motor thing... what a retarded idea. LOL

I read most of that long post and sorry cammeddrz but you are not right!!!:icon_rofl:
First off if you were to tear down a 100k GM engine you would have to boar that junk as it would have good ridge at the top of the cylinder meaning that it has boar taper. You would be doing a full rebuild on the bottem end. You would need to find a good set of head castings for that kind of HP and most of you chevy fags want gold prices for them. And oh ya they came from a corvette to :icon_rofl: the heads would need a valve job if they were not cracked (mostly late model). I dought that you could build a 425 dyno proven (not guessed)HP chevy junk for 700 dollars. I know that you can build a 350HP Dyno proven junk yard 302 for less then 700 dollars as we have done it :headbang:. Stock 96 Explorer V8 from the junk yard with a Ford F-cam, Stock 24# injectors and an aftermarket 76mm Mass air meter all controlled by a factory Ford Mustang computer and wiring harness. A little home head work and milling, a better cam, A better intake and 400+ HP is very reachable :icon_hornsup:. Its cheaper to build a big CID small block Ford then it is to do a chevy and you can get a lot more cubes with the Ford stock block then you can with the chevy.:icon_thumby:

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:You forgot THE most often heard phrase when a Chvy guy describes his 350..............................IT'S GOT 4 BOLT MAINS!!!!!!! The 2nd most often heard phrase is.......................IT'S GOT A STEEL CRANK !!!!!!

A Ford was the only engine I'm aware of that was run in ProStock drag racing with 2 bolt mains and cast cranks. (Bob Glidden with his Clevelands in the late 70's and early 80's)

Meh...
Build what you want, you can make any combo a pile of junk, or very nice.
Budget isn't a concern for everyone. I have no interest in a "built" $700 motor.
EDIT: what I mean is, I'd rather hear it was just headers/cam/intake, or whatever. We can all find our own deals, or use a favourite brand.

DROPTOPFOX, have a look at thread here that contains a poll, "carbed or EFI", or a similar title from the past six months. There are a surprising number of completed Ford builds here.

And for the Chevy fans, don't be lazy, put an LSx in there!
