Why would anyone buy a Toyota?

Personally, I think all your opinions are worthless.... but hey, that's just me.

That's ok but many of us aren't giving opinions but facts.

I have two questions, First, I have two toyotas, well used before I ever got em (over 100 K and 10 yrs old) So do I have a right to say something about american jobs?

Second, when you buy an "American" vehicle and open the hood and see mitsoboshi, nippon denso, and so forth, do you have the right to say something about american jobs? :dunno:

is this thing still going? really now?

Yep. Reading is believing.

i have a toyota.i like it.it's a 1990 town ace van...2.0 turbo diesel,4wd(the real kind, with low range engaged by a stick and turn-em-with-yer-hands hubs)dual zone air conditioning, power everything, dual sunroofs(power)even power curtains for the side windows.....oh,and an icemaker.it's japan market right hand drive.remember, this is 1990-how much of this was offerred in the domestic market then?i see a lot of these japan import rhd's where i am and can't believe the goodies they had 15 years before it was seen even on the domestic market versions of the same vehicles.for the sake of arguement,i also have a ranger,an explorer,b2,f350,and i'm sure some others i'm forgetting about.i don't know about the politics of the whole thing-to me free market capitalist society says i should be able to buy what the money in my pocket can afford, screw how it came to me,i just want the best deal.why weren't these features available in a non-luxury platform on this continent when they were commonplace in japan.

Ever heard of Hino?

That's class 4,5, 6 and 7... something that isn't even available at a Toyota dealership. And on top of that, Hino JOINED the Toyota group... that's right, it's a subsidiary of Toyota... not a "toyota" made vehicle. Hino, manufactures Hino products.

If the Big 3 were non union then prices would drop and half ass employees could be fired immediately instead of going through a lengthy process when a union gets involved.

I will add to it.............. If the Big 3 were non union then prices would drop and half ass employees who hide behind the union and coast through their job and into retirement because of the union and not good ole hard work could be fired immediately instead of going through a lengthy process when a union gets involved.

Yes, a lot of times it is easier to keep someone rather then go through all the red tape. But that is a story for another board.

But get this!!! Last summer my wife's sister and husband from Tampa went to visit for three weeks. My wife's brother-in-law in Ohio went to work every morning and then came back after about an hour. Every day he did this for three weeks. My wife's sister asked if he was getting vacation time off to spend time with them. He said 'No. I go in and punch the clock and then come home. I get paid and I have somebody punch the clock for me when they go home. I do the same for them when they don't want to work a full day. As long as somebody sees my face for a bit, I am legally there. That's because I am a union worker'!!!!

Ahhhh, this is a rip off to the company. Union workers??? This just pisses me off. Most of us would be out of a job if we pulled that!!!!!

An that is why I dislike unions. While that is a more extreme case, unions protect people like that

.

Labor Unions get semi skilled workers benefit packages that come out to $70 an hour........what a world.

Right. Some people work hard and work their way through school then work their way up the ladder to get to that point. Some people get there just because the union says they should. That's not every case but is seen a lot.

You again have failed to understand that they hire Americans AND source MORE American parts. Remember that the "foreign" car companies don't get to make a car in Mexico (ahem, Fusion) and call it domestic. NAFTA doesn't cover Toyota, Nissan, Honda, ect. Furthermore, I can't even begin to explain to you how publicly traded companies disperse profits to stockholders and the profit really goes to them and business expansion which Toyota and others are actually spending HERE.

The problem is folks like you that don't even understand the economics of the auto business and just make snap decisions based on 30+ year old information.

You don't happen to belong to "The defenders of the Toyotas"....do you. When you figure out how much Toyota stimulates this economy compared to the Japanese economy........you'll be surprised. The overwhelming majority shareholders of toyota are asian/foreigners.....at least that is what the liars on Fox news stated.....that Steve Forbes need to get a GED.
