Why Use a Fuel Cooler

I know that a Oil cooler reduces oil temperatures to help prevent Thermal Viscosity Breakdonw...but what is the point of a fuel cooler!!

What's the thermal expansion coefficient of gasoline? Pumping a BUTTLOAD of gasoline into the engine is easy. It NEVER limits the power, as you can always put much bigger valves in than the engine can possibly handle. It's the air that's a challenge. And cooling that with ambient air isn't very effective either (it's at least measurable with a dynamometer, though -- this fuel BS isn't).

Cooler fuel has a more difficult time evaporating, though this isn't likely to be very significant on an EFI.

A fuel cooler might help prevent vapor lock, but DEFINITELY not on any system that has a pump in the tank (there is no way to vapor lock a fuel system without a siphon).

I'll assert that the real point of this device is to separate you from your money.

Drag racers use them to make the intake cooler (doesn't work for long). I see no advantage for a street machine.

Do the drag racers use them because of the high pressures in the fuel line? Correct my faulty thermo if I'm wrong, but isn't a quick rise in pressure associated with a temp. rise?

It prevents vaporlock in carbureted engines, but is otherwise useless.
