Why so much bass?

Well I like the way bass feels. Plus it makes young girls want to dance whenever i'm cruising. I only have one shallow mount 10 inch kicker woofer but will be getting another one to balance it out. And sometimes some a-hole has loud bass so its always nice to shut them up by having more thump. I guess it goes back to who is the most "macho" thing.

:icon_rofl: Haha. LMAO thats what I thought when I posted this. I mean 18 and 19 year olds i'm only 20.

...especially on long trips, late at night..roll the windows down, floor heater on, stereo as loud as it will play cleanly..keeps me up and on the road.
but im running about 1500rms..with four 10's and i LOVE it..

amen to that

First and foremost I don't want this to turn into an argument, or a measuring contest!

I have never personally felt a need for more then a single 15" in a sealed box(in the trunk of a car), in my truck I'm running either a single 12" or single 8" both sealed, depending on season.

So I want to know why? Why do you guys feel the need/want to have thousands of watts, and 2 or more subs? Help me understand this.

Also just throw in what your running.(size & number of them, box type)

Ever been to a concert? its amazing, best time ive ever had, every time i go to one! my favorite part is how the bass kicks your ass, standing 50 feet away from any speakers and your keys in your pocket rattle, your eyes shake, and your teeth feel funny. you are porbably not the same way as me but i love concerts so much i like get in my truck everyday and feel like im at one(its cheaper than buying tickets everyday lol):icon_hornsup: i have 2 12" dauls and 1100 watt daul amp in my ranger and i listen to rock i cant stand rap..ick

I'm more concerned with faithful reproduction of the entire frequency range - not drowning it out with bass said:
me[/I] - not to force feed it to everyone around me.

i hear ya there in my rx7 i have the full sounding system i got one 10" explod and a 200 watt amp completly hidden from anyones view, its all in the storage bins under the rear floor boards, i also have 2 pioneer 6x9s and 2 infinity 6.5"s on two different 100 watt amps and a logic EQ to balance it all out its amazing it sound excelent with very balanced and full ranged music, it hits the lows mids and highs great. i built it that way for a couple reasons, one being that i wanted to keep the car light as possible, two being that i still wanted to hear my sweet rotary exhaust sounds:)

It's not about hearing the music at a certain point.
It's more about feeling it.

Of course, it's easy to add some mids and highs and amplify those to keep up with the sub stage, but often times, you forgo that option just to get hat one or two db more.

It's a race to see who can loose their hearing first!!

Not quite. :)

But we do have Bass Racing which would be equivalent to bracket drag racing.

Each class breaks down to a certain decibel limit.
129.9 (Pretty Much any set-up is this loud.)
139.9 (Decently loud)
149.9 (Extremely Loud daily driver, vision blur is definitely noticeable.)
159.9 (No sense in trying to see anything anymore.)

Goal is to stay at the 9.9 score or under and beat your opponent.

dont forget bass race is a 30sec average, its all about control to stay in your class yet post the highest score.

Examples.

(Another reason why distorted videos shouldn't judge how loud someone's system is.)

Are they actual songs, or just a combination of tones and frequencies?
