I see a lot of info on 44s and 60s, but not much on the 50. Is it not a good axle? Just don't know much about the axle itself.

Guessing you're asking about the D50 solid axle? (not the TTB one?)

Either way, it's not a bad axle strengthwise, but it's still not a big step up from a D44 (mostly because it uses the same 30 spline shafts as a D44). It also isn't much lighter than a D60 either (the '99-'01 solid D50 is really a D50/60 "hybrid" axle, much like our '93-'97 Ranger D28/35 hybrid). If you can get one for a really good price, it might be worth using.

I thought you meant dodge d.50............. I have one, theres a host of reasons not to buy one of those. lol

Dodge used a D50? :icon_confused:

Oh... yeah it's a Mitsubishi.

Ok, N/M then, carry on.

they dont have as many aftermarket options for gears and lockers etc. and as said are heavy like a 60 and not much stronger than a 44

I had a dana 50 ttb under my fullsize with 39.5 in boggers and a built 351w for a little over a year and ran the balls off of it.The only problem i had was wheel bearings.

Thats strange, a D50 TTB uses the same wheel bearings as the D60.

Thats strange, a D50 TTB uses the same wheel bearings as the D60 Yes they use the same wheel bearings and lockouts, I could not keep the wheel bearings tight no matter what i tried.

Was it on a fullsize truck? maybe the springs allowed the axle beams to lean a little causing force on the wheel bearing being you had larger tires it helped it work loose.

the TTB was the one I was curious about, I have a line on one for cheap but I'm not going through the hassle for minimum gains

Yea, don't even bother. It will take more work to swap that in than it would be to swap a d60 from the same year truck. Plus a d60 is much stronger.
