Why is there a distributor spot on the 4.0L engine!?

Sweet I always kinda wonderd what that thing was for also. I just had a little flapper bolted over the hole on both my ohv lol I just never paid much mind

no big deal

:icon_idea:all it is, is a spot that a distributer used to go, but the enging has coil packs instead. It is where the cam drives the oil pump. its just a shaft with a gear on it.

Uh, then why do both my 99 3.0 and 98 4.0 have cam position sensors on top of the camshaft synchronizer? Ones an NC truck and the is from PA...

The information I referenced is from the 1994 ford emissions manual and was for the 1994 year only.

I figured that out once Allan stated the difference between the two.
