Why is G-05 antifreeze so hard to find?

No big car parts chains carry G-05 (yellow / gold) antifreeze. Why is that? Millions of vehicles use it. Fords, Chryslers, many imports... It makes sense to make it available.

I did a drain and fill of my truck's radiator today. The ONLY parts store with G-05 was NAPA. NAPA had plenty of it, and all kinds of other antifreezes too. I got 2 gallons of Zerex G-05 for $28. Advance, Auto Zone, and O'Reilly either don't have it, or they don't advertise it and keep it hidden away. All they have on the floor is "all makes, all models" coolant and sometimes Death-Cool.

All makes, all models coolant sounds like a nice concept, but from what I have read online, this stuff is essentially just Dex-Cool. I know many cars run Dex-Cool and don't have problems, but I don't even want to risk my truck becoming a Dex-Cool disaster. Peak's Global Long Life all makes/models claims that it will work with Ford's specs, but it isn't actually approved by Ford. Zerex G-05 is actually approved by Ford.

Another problem with Peak. They say their stuff is silicate-free. Ford has stated that their vehicles spec'd for G-05 need silicates.
See what Ford says about all makes, all models antifreeze here...

So why is G-05 so hard to find? The all makes, all models thing seems to be a way to save money by making fewer products, possibly at the cost of customers who may have problems from using Death-Cool derived antifreeze.

I just hope NAPA keeps stocking G-05, because I really don't want to have to pay $20+ a gallon for it at the dealer.

BTW - 2002+ Rangers have G-05 as the factory fill.

I've noticed this on the brake fluid, Autozone has dot brake fliud (synthetic) that can be used either in a DOT 3 or a DOT 4 application, in the same bottle!

I rather get straight DOT 3 instead of compatible interchangable sh!t.
