Why ford is dissing the ranger

i have seen em in person and drove one, still no surprise for me
it doesnt even has decent sales in Honduras, and u expect better than us dont u?

it has to meet certain minimum standards to be here...... I don't care if the Diesel only has 20 hp and 60ft/lbs of torque ...... it gets +/- 30 mpg.... it will do the same amount of work as a ranger.... I don't care if it tops out at 60 mph ....... I drive the 'Kick at 62 mph on the big roads ... And while the Chevy can do 98 before the computer defuels it .... I set the cruise on it at 60 mph because then it gets into the low 20's for mileage ...... going slow doesn't bother me.

It has the cab configuration that I want and the power plant that I want for a price I am willing to pay..... That is what I am looking at. I could care less how it looks.

The Ranger must have a really big cab to fit somebody that is 6'+ in the back seat ....... I have a friend that is 6'7" (well actually he is my brother's friend) amd he doesn't fit in the back seat of my chevy unless front seat is all the way forward and he still has his knees in his face .....

well if u need one and u like how it looks , go ahead.
just dont get too excited about it and dont have too high expectations.
good luck if u buy one.
i dont need it and i dont like it, im keeping my Ranger.
if i could afford a diesel truck it would be something like this:
3.0 turbo diesel toyota
toyota-hilux-invincible-200.jpg

or 2.5 turbo diesel nissan navara

in fact my stepdad has one of those and it kicks ass:headbang:

Yes, If I could afford one, I would buy a crew cab long bed Frontier because it is closer to what I want (minus the diesel, but I have a feeling that the Mahindra will force the issue).... and it is assembled here in the states .... I won't buy a Tacoma after having had one ....... they have the worst seats in the world ......

yeah those tacoma seats are the worst i ever drove too, i like em having manual t case and electric locker(TRD Off-road package)but feels like sitting on a wood bench.
by the way u gonna feel the same in the mahi...lol

I bet they will sell. They are also full one ton trucks iirc.

at $8000 less than the Frontier .... i will deal ... I have the chevy for long trips anyways ... thats a nice comfortable ride ....... even for being 16 y/o......

That Toyota and Nissan are super cute... But Diesel like the Jetta are great 40MPG

the toyota 3.0 delivers 163hp and around 30kms per gallon in city and 39 on roads
the nissan 2.5 has 172hp-variable geometry turbo and dohc and the only one with a 6 speed manual:headbang:

I'll call it a piece of shit all I want and I will point and laugh at anyone that has one.Not like anyone is going to do anything. That truck ( or should I say cracked out looking sports trac ) is ugly as sin. It doesn't look like a truck nor will it function realistically as one.

I've seen this already because the fire truck company my department is dealing with ( we are buying 2 new fire trucks from them ) is trying to con our chief into purchasing 2 of these ugly ass monstrosities as a chief and assistant chiefs department cars. The company is apparently purchasing so many to sell to fire departments when released.Needless to say. It's turned into a fight at our department, because we were going to buy 2 extended cab Rangers with custom bed enclosures or Explorers as department vehicles.

I agree with you 99%. The one percent of me really likes the functionality of the reg cab w/ the 7.5 foot bed and one ton rating. But the ONLY 2 trucks I can see my self in is a ranger or a taco if ranger is discontinued

They are rated one ton, but they are not what we normally call a one ton... like a F-350. I have a hunch its "one ton rating" is payload, which is what you can haul in the bed. The Ranger is rated to to haul a little over half a ton in the bed, so it isn't a complete blowout.

actually its a ton adn a quarter poundage wise. Yes it is a complete blow out. difference between a motorcycle in the bed or another truck (weight wise)

I can't read all of this.

But what some of you guys don't know, is that a large number of US engineers are from India. They did all of their schooling in India--right up through PhD. and, since the US doesn't produce many PhD.s, American comapnies have to hire them because there are no US engineers being produced. So there is no reason this Indian truck, being designed by Indian engineers just like a lot of US stuff is, won't be good. You think the American worker with the big union sheltering his mistakes is better than the Indian worker who gets tossed out for making a mistake? India has 3.5X the population of the US and competition for shoe-shine boy is deadly--let alone competition for a labor job--let alone competition for a slot in grad school. I've met many Indian engineers and they are brilliant people. Men and women.

America is my team--both continents. I'm afraid for us because of how good the competition is. The competition is good because of their internal competition. They have 1/3 of the world's population and a huge amount of want-to. We have 1/10 of the world's population and a huge amount of CSI-Miami to watch.

If you have a half a ton of stuff in the bed, a motorcycle probably won't fit in there anyway... mine has to go diagonally bed corner to bed corner with the front wheel turned in my 7' bed to get the tailgate to shut, and that pretty much kills the rest of the box for getting much more stuff to fit in there.

Personally, I run out of room in my big little box before I run out of weight capacity even in my '85. Engines, transmissions, tires (both pickup and tractor), ATV's, dirtbikes, lawn mowers, logs, hay, brush, feed, fence posts... it hauls what fits in there and what I need to haul just fine. Really it is pretty much the same stuff I haul with my F-150, I tow a lot more with the F-150 though. Sure you could haul more seed, rock or concrete blocks... heavy compact stuff in the Mahindra but few people that do that often mess with a truck near this small anyway. I think it will be a non-issue for the average consumer.
