Why ford is dissing the ranger

2i29atf.jpg

this is your average 85yr old Ranger driver around here....... (this man happens to be a good friend of mine)

if he spent the money to get a new truck be it toyota, muhindra, s-10.......... he would expect it to do the same work because it's a TRUCK

Frank

What I see is someone that is using the wrong tool for the job. A person that misguided as to the vehicles purpose is not a consideration for any car company. Never will be.

actually that pic shows that a ranger can do almost anything
IIRRC frank posted it to show what a silgay-ado couldnt do or another truck, with a hay wagon or something like that
a truck with a silly bed like the marihuana, i mean mahindra could never do that

Get on a farm forum........... we buy trucks for farm vehicles.
That truck was purchased new in 2000 and has never left the farm.
There are thousands of trucks just like that across the country..... and in depth descriptions of why farmers hate toyota's. (truck case in-point is not a toyota, but would be equally useless if not worse)

If it's a truck, it should act like a truck...... the Ranger does. I tow annhydrous ammonia, cars, nitrogen fertilizer, trailers of feed, skidsteer loaders, and sometimes if I'm feeling crazy (i want to put a lawnmower, couch or bed back there) and that's with my 97 and 04 "not the farm truck, it gets it much much worse"

The demographic you describe is full of people that don't need a truck.... they need a car so the "auto manufacturers" should not be concerned with THEIR demographic and focus on what a truck is bought for.

IDK. My truck is rated to haul 1490LBS. I meet or SLIGHTLY beat that weight daily for work. I dont think the mahinda could handle that and I think the Ford Ranger is the best tool for the job without a v8 fullsize

Umm, are you "Sure" that that pile of crap isn't the new Smartruck, from the same boneheads that brought you the Smartcar? It looks to be almost as useless, unless you are going to the golf course, maybe. ugh.

While dissing that one it is the Quad cab. They make a regular cab one that looks much more proportional. I mean thaat this is reminiscent on the Sport Trac which is basically what a 4 door Ranger would have been like. I personally would like to try one.

looks like an 03-ish tacoma and a land rover got it on unprotected... reminds me of the god awful "cube" from nissan... where do these people come up with this stuff...

the Mahindra is rated as a 1 ton. the reg cab has a 7.5' bed. both have a 5000lb rated towing capacity...... and have enough power to do it..... and will still be able to cruise at or above the speed limit.

it has 8.3" ground clearance ...... whats a stock 2010 IFS Ranger got? The Mahindra has 160 hp and 263ft/lbs torque ..... again what does a stock 2010 ranger have? it is also roughly the same size as a Ranger ......

more importantly the crew cab 4x4 will have a price tag of around 20 grand....... about 6 grand less than an super cab short box 4wd 4.0L Ranger.......

Doesn't Mahindra build engines for New Holland? nope I was wrong ... they build their own tractor line here in the US ..... with a plant in Texas and a plant in CA.....

yep another american made import LOL

http://www.billstractor.com/mahindrahistory.htm

From what I can gather their owners a very very loyal

As long as they are employing Americans I don't care where they are from....

Top quality products at fair prices........I may have to look into one of the trucks for work! 35 mpg would be very nice change of pace over the 09 F150 that ha no payload capacity and gets 12 mpg if Im lucky

Like I said, I plan on buying one.... I need the Crew Cab more than I need the bed ......... I can use my Chevy to tow or Haul anything bigger.

Square bales are not that heavy, you could find heavier four wheelers than what he has in hay back there. The truck is just under level, not terribly overloaded. And I agree, around here a load like that is far from unheard of.

Mahindra has been struggling for years to make a decent tractor in the US and has failed as of yet to get that done, I don't see their truck attempt doing any better. Other parts of the world have different standard than we do, Kubota blows them away for a import... and nothing can match John Deere, CNH, or AGCO for the dealer support they have in the US... Mahindra is right up there with the mail order tractors if you don't have a dealer local for finding parts and that is a market they have been in for awhile.

I searched the internet for problems with their tractors and found nothing but praise. Since this thread started I called my Bro In Law and asked him about them. HE said many of the farmers around him use them and have ZERO problems other than normal wear and tear. His farm sold last year or he said he would be replacing his Deere equipment with them.

Like I said in another thread ...... Ford is not getting another dime from me until I can afford a new Mustang or they start offering a vehicle that I want. I am tired of the big 3 dictating what I will buy..... I am going to vote with my wallet and buy a compact diesel powered crew cab that is roughly the same size as the Ranger ....... When Ford pulls their head out of their ass and offers a Diesel powered compact crew cab in the United States then I may consider them again ...... I am tired of every time I walk onto dealership to look at a new Ranger the salesman tries to get me into an F150 ....... I hate the F-150 ........ its too big.... I have a full size truck and its a 3/4 ton, I don't want another unless I am upgrading to a Dually....... what I want is something that is easy to drive and park ...... not something people will think is an over compensation for something else ........

I remember a Sergeant telling me not to buy a Suzuki Samurai (a brand new 1992 still on the lot in late 94) ........ because of all the bad things he heard about them.......
