Since doing the wireharness splice for my Ranger and wishing there was something i could just plug in and be done ive wondered. What if someone made a specific Ranger conversion harness for the 5.0L fuel injected engines. If there was such a thing who would buy it? And what would you pay for one.

Ive thought that I could make them up easy enough if there was a market for it. Either by pulling harnesses from scrap yards and splicing them together, or ordering up a bunch of plugs from the dealer and a bunch of wire. Anyone have thoughts on it?

I'd pay for that. I'd be willing to pay around a hundred bucks. Any more than that, I'd do it myself.

After what I went throught to sort out all my wiring I would have paid $100 for a harness, even if it came without the connectors installed but the wires labeled. That would have saved a lot of time

They do make a custom wiring harness for any application if you have the bucks. When i was looking i found a place that had the wiring harness and computer for like 1500 bucks. I found another place that would take both wiring harnesses and convert 1 to fit with your computer that was like 750 bucks. Here is a couple links which i just googled searched as i couldnt find my other sites.

But i decided to do my own because i love a challenge and i was successful .

Just a reminder, computers are powered by smoke, cause when you let the smoke out they stop working.

I'll look into doing it find out how cheap i can get them done for, Im talking about a plug and play harness. Plug into your computer, plug into your truck start the engine up. No messing about with anything.

what about those stand alone haresses to put a 5.0l in a street rod? you just hook up power, fuel pump and ground right?

Any harness i have found was at least $400 + and you still have to wire it up for gauges if nothing else. I was aiming for something to help the DIY type guys that want a quick mostly painless 5.0L swap that they could finish in 2 weekends.

its so easy i dont know why anyone would pay??

100 bux?....i would build and send it for free before i did it for that....and i have...

obd2 applications on the otherhand are alot more involved as you really need to keep things intact powertrain wise unless you have the soft/hardware/knowledge to make corrections.

I don't see the point to be honest. They are going to be so many variations so that there will be no universal harness. It will only be good for a specific setup. Like bobby said the wiring isn't that difficult, just need to know about all the other things especially with the newer OBDII stuff.

Thats what i thought. People made it seem like it would be so hard to do. That it was so difficult and a carb was way easier to put together. I wont deny a carb is simple. But the EFI wasn't bad at all. I'm going to class myself as a rookie here since ive never done this before and im only 20.
I got mine together and running the first time around, with the only complication being that i didn't have a good seal on the intake after the MAF.

Oh well, if people dont want to pay me to make them a harness then i wont. But if they do, I would be all over it!
