who has thought of drifting a ranger

A well tuned 302 will get better than 20 mpg in a 4x2 ranger if you keep your foot out of it.

what does he have in it? i'm just trying to do the best with what i got. thats why i don'y want to drop anything in it. just turbo charge it, bigger injectors, and a programmer. that should get me started

LOL, yes, let us know when you at least get to that point. I think you're in for an unpleasant suprise with the stock engine management system. :haha:

They didn't put hardened pistons and lower the CR on the 2.3T for shits and grins...

Mine burns out pretty good with no forced induction. But I have internal mods, which at that point would be best to go with a different engine cost per h/p with reliability weighed in.

I was going to S/C my 2.9L, but opted for the V8 conversion instead. I would probably consider an S/C over a turbo for the purpose that you're using it for. If i were drag racing, turbo all the way.

ok that is a good point, could you give me a link to a s/c page? i thought that a s/c put too much strain on the crank that is why i was leaning towards a turbo. and pleanty of the drifting cars use turbos. the drift patrol mustang uses a supercharger.

There is no S/C page, no aftermarket kits either. It's all custom made, though I have seen a few different setups on ebay here and there throughout the years.

I had a design for a 2 piece aluminum adapater plate for the S/C I had to the 2.9L lower, and my brother was going to mill it up for me. But I sold all my S/C stuff. The original setup had a "box" that the S/C sat on and it mounted on the side of the engine. The air was funnelled from the bottom to the 2.9L upper plenum.

I wasn't implying that's what you should use, I was just thinking on the lines that a roots on top of the motor wouldn't have to spool. The boost is right there off the line.

i get what you are saying and i kinda figured that some custom fab would be needed. i'll just go with the turbo then. i already have an idea on what to do.
