who has thought of drifting a ranger

Grab it! Don't remember the exact size, but the difference is noticable. If your pulling it from a wrecking yard, just look at some of the other rangers and bronco 2s around there..I just put one on my 90 Ranger. Soon as I figure out my electrical issue, I'll let ya know how it works..

let me kno how much of a difference it makes so i can swoop on it.

i got the throttle body. what will be the best shock absorber to buy to drift cause my truck dips horribly when i try to do sharp turns to avoid random shit in the road.

i was already plaining to get a set of low pro tires. thanks for the boost tip. do you have any advise on shaving some weight. i'm thinking of making a carbon fiber hood. and front fenders (if i don't screw up the hood)
the hardest part is the reinforcement underneath and mounting.pulling a mold from your old parts is easy(though shrinkage and warping takes experience to deal with).the ranger is front heavy but that would help drifting woulden't it?sounds like a lot of work

find a fox body mustang and rob the drivetrain from it.with low gears it would keep her spinning

by the way,you aren't going to notice much putting "performance parts" on your 2.9l.you might actually lose bottom end.i did everything i could buy just about as far as bolt ons and wasent impressed.an old whooped 4.0l with low compression on the other hand(which was pretty easy to swap in once i had the EVTM's) had a LOT more power.they don't like being reved high though, thats why a 5.0l would be great

Ok, Torque more than horsepower... a 4.0.

STIFF suspension (read 2wd Bronco2 rear sway bar) Explorer springs AND make
your own version of James Duff's Old style traction bars. (wheel hop is contrary to what you want to achieve.

Now my resistance to making what could be perceived as an offensive
comment waning faster than my self-control.... if points are awarded
for "style" or "artist impression" it is something that should be left to Fags
& Women like figuire skating.

Wasting tires as well as fuel seems to me to be "environmentally unsound".

Got mine figured out, and it does seem to accelerate a little better with the larger TB. My motor was a recent rebuild out of a truck that got rolled, so it's a little tighter than my old motor was too.
Smooth and quiet, sure is nice to have it back on the road...:3gears:

The only problem is it's really quiet, and sometimes I forget to shift, I'll be getting up to 50+, look down and I'm taching 4500,:shok: still in 3rd. Feels like it would keep going up, but I don't like to wind it that high..

This is a silly idea for a ton of reasons. You don't need power to drift, you need power to do burnouts. All those 4cyls (240sx, ae86, etc..) do just fine with ~100hp. Drifting isn't about making smoke, it's about control. You need a suspension that doesn't get upset easy, like IRS all the way around. The camber changes with the TTB and solid axle will kill you. Download a copy of the Drift Bible and trade your truck in for an 240sx. Remember it's about weight transfer and control, not smoke and tires.

PS: weld/spool diff is bad idea for anything that's gonna come close to the street. You will be "drifting" right by the cops turning at traffic lights... and your tires will last about a week.

yeah i've thought about doing that for a long time but i can't find any. i've really been thinking about putting a rd20 or an sr20 in it. it is only 1,200-1,660. and i will have the time to do it and i'm about to start working again. so i figure with the gas the way it is i might as well do it. or put a 2.3 or 2.8 in it but i'm not sure.

its only bad if u do not know how to drive a vehicle with a welded rear on the street....and u dont have that much in the way of accelerated tire wear due to minimal weight in the back of the truck, the solid axle will NOT kill u in drifting, it will actually work better as buth sides are SOLIDLY linked together, if u have never been drifting in a ranger then u really have no room to talk, also, drifting despite ur beiliefs IS about makin smoke, u dont get any points if u dont smoke in a drift.....

thats the one of the parts that they judge you on when you are drifting. he was right on the you don't need alot of power to drift. i just got done fucking around in a parking lot and on the way home. but no smoke. damn

hey all you will need in your ranger is a 302 with a cam, full exuast and a good intake. upgrade you steering and it will drift great.

Where's Ric? He does this stuff.

thats where the power comes in, if u dont got the power to get the tires spinnin quickly then u dont get smoke, if there was no reason to have power why would drifters hop up there engines from stock??

ok i'm not goong to put a a 5.0,4.6 or any other v8 in my truck. gas is way too much to do that. the biggest engine that i would put in would be a 4.0 i'm going to stay with 6 cyclinder engines or inline 4's. no v8's
