Hey guys, my 2001 Rangers whine from the drivers side front end. But only at 50km/h. Well...at and around...like 45-55km/h but it is worse at fifty. I just replaced the front bearings and lower ball joints. It happened before I did this and it is happening after. I am not sure if got worse after I replaced the bearings tho? The tires do need rotating (they are mud tires) but it doesn't sound like just tires. It comes from only the one corner. Is it possible the bearings could be installed wrong? And then causing the whine/drone? Thanks

Dean

If you think it's the tires, swap the front tires side to side and see if the noise moves. If it remains, you know the tire isn't the problem. After that, you're gonna have to systematically eliminate one thing at a time. Question: Did you align the front end after replacing the components?

Change the driver and see if the whining stops...:icon_rofl:

Sorry, I couldn't resist. How about a CV joint on that side?

No vibration? It could be a hub going out. Put the front end up in the air and pull on the front tires really hard and see if you feel anything loose. But, most mud tires are the worst for DD, Bro. I hate them on my Jeeps when they get around 6,000 miles on them!!! If they are old get new ones with less aggresive treads.

I changed the stuff for a safety inspection and they checked alignment and said it was good. I am going to change the tires around when I get the chance to. I hope it fixes it.

Its a 2WD. No axles. I did replace the hub tho.

Not really vibration. I also replaced the lower ball joints and stuff. Nothing should be loose because it passed the mechanical safety inspection.

I assumed 4X4 because of:

Ahh yes. Sorry. That is my "good" ranger. This one is a 2001 that I bought, swapped front ends on. Now am trying to sell it. Trying to get it tip top before someone buys it. Sorry for the confusion
