hey guys, i need help. my truck seems to be whining/chirping from what sounds like under the gear shift knob, and it does it primarily while moving at highway speed. sometimes it also does it out of nowhere at highway speed.
any advise?

well, for one check your fluid level, manual transmission i assume?
while you're checking the fluid be sure you're not leaking anywhere
while it's whining you can pop in the clutch and put it in neutral, see if it still whines
be sure it's only in fifth, maybe you just can't hear it as loud in other gears?
do you notice any other odd behavior with the transmission or just a noise?
diagnosis for noises can be tough, you have to try and issolate it to a certain condition that it occurs because then you can find out what components are in operation at that time
