Hey there possible problem with my 2000 xlt 4x4. For awhile there has been an intermintent whine under my truck only recently has it become a constant whine I put a stethoscope up there and it seems like I can hear it best from right between the oil pan and the bell housing. My fear is the tranny is on its way out, it shifts fine still and seems to have power I changed the fluid and filter myself last year so I have less than 10,000 on the change and the fluid is a proper level and red. Also the cam syncro is new. Is it at all possible that either the ps pump or ac pump may be making noise and transfering down there? The only thing I havent done it remove the serpentine belt and start the truck because its a pain to get it back on.

The ps pump has been noisy for awhile, could it be the torque converter whining? Its really hard to describe the whine if it was the tranny wouldn't it be having other problems related to it? Any help or insight would be great thanks everyone.
