So my tranny went out and i gotta put in a new one.:annoyed: While i'm doing that swap what else should i check/replace while the transmission is out??

I know of the clutch, slave. Also I'm going to seal the plugs and recondition the electric 4x4 motor.

What else?? Even if its small i don't want to miss anything.:headbang:

Thanks a lot :yahoo:

Truck info: 93' Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 v-6 165k miles. single cab with 4" lift

Since it's an M5OD, replace all the rubber plugs with metal ones...I can't remember exactly which ones to replace but they leak.

There will be three rubber plugs in the back of the shift tower, replace them with steel frost plugs to prevent leaks.

I know there are some tech articles about the plugs here on trs. The part number I used was dorman 555-108, you need 3.

Also what all should come in a Clutch Kit????

Typically, the kit only contains a clutch disc and pressure plate. Slave cylinder, throwout bearing and pilot bearing (if equipped) usually don't come in the kit...

OK so far i have:
And Part # from Dealership For some stuff

1. front main seal-----------F5TZ*6701*A (82.73$)
2. T Case/tranny gasket, ---E9TZ*7086*A (Supposedly Factory Only) (8.22$)
3. Master cyl---------------F2TZ*7A543*G (124.78$)
4. clutch kit, --------------F37Z*7L596*BA (233.06$)
5. plugs,----------Part # Provided by Explorerhavok (dorman 555-108) (Price Unknown)

WHAT ELSE....

What are good fluids for the Different Applications????

Is there any reason i should do after market items on any of these? I want to use my truck at dd and also weekend warrior. Any Ideas??

Cheers

Your List

I see you have front main seal,, Since you will be in there I would really suggest doing the REAR Main Seal as well,, Its about $16.00 and also I am not sure where your getting clutch kit, but at AutoZone they come with EVERYTHING you need except someone to put it in for you, i.e. clutch alignment tool, throwout bearing if applicable, and of course pressure plate and clutch plate, my brother got one for his Jeep (like the CJ Convertible) last summer and it was just over $100.00
