While fast, M5's don't fly well

As far as i'm concerned it should be a law that 18 year olds can't drive anything with more than 100 hp. That guy is an IDIOT and his stupidity took him and four of his innocent friends lives.

that wont happen until vehicle manufacters start making nothing but gutless vehicles, and considering that i can order a diesel with 600 ft. lbs of torque then that day isnt coming for quite some time now huh????

what i never understand is, WHY CAN CARS GO SO FAST?? we dont need a car that can do 220 mph.....the speed limit is 65, therefor cars should not be able to go faster than 80-85 mph, and the only reason that i say 80-85 is because there are emergancies, such as, your kid falls, breaks his arm and you got to speed to the hospital or something along those lines....

dude that makes me a little creeped out cause i touch that speed in the jetta almost everyday when i have a passat to show up, but still damn 120 damn thats all i gots to stay

ok so let me get this straight......you are here spreading your remorse for this kid who dies going 120 mph, you say that you are going to reset your speed limiter and now you say that you see those speeds everyday?????

i cant think of any nice way to say what i want to say.......just slow the **** down before we are talking about how you wrapped your jetta around a lightpole

How in the world did he get a car to fly 20 ft in the air.

Yeah I never push like 80 mph in my dads car on the highway but I know a kid who shot his over the guard rail on a hairpin turn going 130.

And 18 year olds should have a limit to how fast their cars can go not how much horsepower cause even my truck has like 130hp. I like diesels for vehicles cause they don't have acceleration but they do have power to pull an haul. thats all i really care about. Fast is Stupid!

well when you are going 120 mph lots of shit can happen, the police said that there was skid marks, what if he cranked the wheels and hit the brake to try and stop at the end of the runway? could have gone into a skid, sidewalls of the tires caught on the pavement and the car flips.....

imagine what would happen if you were going 120 and cranked the wheel and pulled the e-brake on pavement.......

damn....havin a fast car is kind of bad...my zx2 s/r...that is a fast little fucker...and i have pushed it...well up to 80...but take offs...i want to go way faster...but i am 23 and know better....this is why i am glad that i am going to a ranger now....yes an other one....so i dont do stupid shit like that

also a few years ago some kids were street racing in a town next to mine...lewiston....and one of the cars crashed and the driver died...the other driver was charged with man slotter at the age of 16

you should not drive any thing over 100 h.p like said befor..and you hould not get your licence till you graduate from high school...that is what the damn bus is for....stupid punk ass snot nose kids

newer bmw's have larger rims with small tires, the sidewall isnt really big enough to catch on the pavement. ive almost had that happen though once in my moms taurus haha.

im 16 and I used to drive 90 straight on the freeway regularly. never in a RBV but in a car its safe. it all depends on your skill and how good you are at it, i never came close to getting in a wreck. I havent had one ticket yet either and ive been driving almost a year. The only ticket ive gotten was when I was 15 doing 73 in a 55 with my dad in the car.

The runway slopes up quite a bit at the end, it's a way to help heavily loaded or less powerful airplanes off the ground on a shorter runway, think ski jump. I'm guessing that he lost track of where the end of the runway was, or never thought to mark it and realized he was out of room WAY too late. I wonder if that 120mph was when he left the runway or hit the trees. I don't feel sorry for the driver, merely Darwin at work, it's too bad he took others with him though.

Could you make up your mind, either you have gotten a ticket or not, in your long career of driving.

This is a comment I wrote on the local newspaper they had online.
I had some mixed replies as to what they thought about it, but I still think this sums it all up.

Seriously, the only person who is at fault is the freaking driver. The parents shouldn't be blamed because they make tons of money and can afford such a nice car for their son. The kid should have taken the time to appreciate the car and its abilities and know what his limits are as an 18 year old driver. The people inside shouldn't be blamed either. I have been in some situations where I was a passenger and they did some stupid things that all I could do is hold on and pray. You can’t really just jump out of a car pushing 170MPH.
My prayers go out to the families involved.
IMHO, the only person who should be sued is the kid who was driving the car and just enough to pay funeral expenses. Think about it, if you truly loved your son or daughter, NO amount of money would be enough to forgive the kid of taking his friends lives.
With that said, the only person people should be mad at is the driver and even then should be forgiven, because everyone makes mistakes. It’s called Learning. But this lesson learned was the ultimate price.

I havent ever gotten a ticket on my liscense, only on the permit. I dont really count that one, but if you say so, yes I have gotten a ticket. I never said ive been driving a long time, I just think a year is pretty good to go without getting one, especially being 16. Ask any other 17 year-old how many theyve gotten, i bet you 95% chance its more.

edit: I agree with nate, its the drivers fault, no one elses even if they told him to do it he/she was the one driving and had the choice.

I'm 19 and I've gotten only gotten 2 written warnings and no tickets. The warnings were for doing about 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. (both times) I think that no one under 18 should have an M5 or any other fast car, regardless of how rich their family is. Teenage boys do A LOT of real stupid shit. I always really wanted a Mustang and my parents wouldn't let me get one. Looking back now, I'm glad they didn't because if they did, I might be dead by now. Heck, it's a miracle I've never been in an accident (that was my fault), even with the 94 Explorer as my first car. Now, I've gotten all my youthful-crazy-stupid-shit out of my system, and I'm a much more responsible driver. I have thousands of miles of safe, responsible driving under my belt and still accident-free and ticket-free. If I ever have a son, he's getting something that takes at least 10 secs to go 0-60. I OTOH, think I'm about ready for that Mustang...:3gears:

There's a reason males 18-25 pay the highest insurance rates. You've probably got some maturing to do, and far as your abilities go as well as what you think is safe.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm 19 also, and while I know cars and what they can do, especially my truck, a lot better than I did when i was 16, I still realize in the eyes of somebody else, I'm a risk. I've been driving for 5 years (sooo long, I know I know) without any accidents, tickets or warnings.

A friend and I were talking a while back, and we realized it's a good thing we drive lifted trucks, not fast cars.
