i've been looking at picking up a mid-90's ranger. it seems that some of the 2wd's had traction control, but most of the dealers/owners don't seem to know if their trucks have it. is there any way to tell short of jacking up one side and turning a wheel? looks like it isn't a huge deal to get a rear end from a mustang/bronco/whatever and put it in, but i'd like to have that as a consideration in the price at least.

perfect, just what i was looking for. i did a search before i posted, i swear ;)

No worries. Hope that helps you out.

Do you mean "limited slip"?

a limited slip is a passive device that resists the two axle shafts
from turning at different speeds.

"Traction control" is an ACTIVE eectronic system that electronically
retards the throttle and can even applies the brake on the spinning wheel

No Ranger has ever been fitted with traction control.
