The oil seal on the front of the engine that's behind the water pump. Not the water pump seal, the one behind that? Front engine cover seal?

which engine? sounds like a timing chain gasket to me
 
2.9 on an 89 4x4. Its seeping oil all along the top. Just started about a month ago.

yeah, sounds like it's the timing chain cover
