Not sure why Ford had to have so many varieties of V8s and V6s in the 90s and when GM and Dodge were able to keep it simple and use one platform.
Fords always been that way. It seems stupid they do it to. The average consumer doesnt care if their new 351 shared a bolt pattern with a 460. Seems it would of been cheaper and eaiser for them to just streamline shit across the board.
Its also why performance guys gravitate toward GM
