Which is the better choice ?

I am able to purchase some new wheels for my ranger(not new but new to me) .
One set is 17x8 2005 mustang GT S197 Wheels
The other set is from a mustang not sure of year but they are 16x7 .
Which set would be the better choice for my 88 Ranger ?

Not sure of the offset for the Mustang wheels but I am told they will be no issue. Just need to make a sound decision on which ones to get. I am happy with either one just don't know which is best . Any help is appreciated.

Either one could look good on there. Fitment will e about the same I think. Either one may need spacers to clear the center caps.

I have been told that either one will fit but may rub "just a bit." So, that means a spacer? what size ? Also told that the 16x8 Mustang Cobra OEM wheels will fit. Any one know if they rub? I am looking at 235/70/16 tires
Also told 4.5" backspace is the maximum to get. If this is true would a 16x7 wheel be a better fit?
