I need to get a High Volume fuel pump for my 2.3T ranger. Since i cant just look up the one for this application I was wondering what all of you guys are doing? Should i eliminate the in-line pump or the tank pump or just add a new in-tank pump? What do I have to do to adapt an in-tank pump and which one do i buy? I heard once that I can buy the pump for a mustang SVO. any knowledge will help.

also if anyone has put racing buckets in an 86 standard cab could I see a pic?

ok thanks that looks good i am going to order that tonight. what did you do to delete the hipressure pump? did you run a new line from the tank all the way up?

the fuel pump is finally in! :thefinger: Our local autozone didnt have the right fittings for the ford parts so I ended up cutting the quick disconnects of around the old in-line pump and using a barbed fitting to just close up the hole. The motor seems to be running much better now. The fuel pump works fine and the ony question i have left is if the stock regulator will be enough or if i shold get an adjustable one to ramp up the pressure.

I have been using this one for a year and a half. I replaced the low pressure in tank pump with this one, and just deleted the stock high pressure pump.

I read your posting and was wondering how you did this??

Did you have to make any modifications to make it fit, when replacing your Ranger's low pressure in tank pump, with the in tank high pressure fuel pump that you used from ebay??

How did you go about deleting the Ranger's stock high pressure in line primary fuel pump?? Did you splice in a short piece of fuel line??

Or, could a person put another in line fuel filter in place of the Ranger's primary fuel pump, if the ends are the same for the fuel line to attach to??

I have a 1987 Ranger STX, 4x4, 2.9 engine that, also, has a low pressure in tank fuel pump, that I'm thinking about replacing, as I don't think it's working..

And I might be interested in doing what you did, as it sounds like a good idea..

I wonder why the Ford motor company didn't only use one fuel pump, in the first place, on a 87 Ranger, as it would be less complicated and it seems like it would be more reliable having one fuel pump for doing the job, instead of two fuel pumps that can be more troublesome..

I had to trim a piece of tube in the fuel pump pickup to make it work. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get the in tank pump out. Really easy, the mod can be done with a cut off wheel or hack saw.

In place of the high pressure pump I have a section of high pressure rubber hose. I used ends I cut off of an old fuel filter to connect into the stock fuel line quick disconnects that are on each side of the hi pressure pump.

Yea the pump was very easy to install. I installed it on the stock hanger thing and just had to trim a little tube like Davis said. to eliminate the second pump I came up with a very simple solution. I just cut the quick connect ends off of the line around where the pump had been and bought a splice connector from autozone with barbs on each side and just pushed the two pieces together.
