A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
As with any vehicle over 8 years old, if you wanna keep it going, you're going to need a "village" to git 'er done--an internet village!

Ye Olde Ranger has to taken offline for a while, and I'm eyeballing a 2010 Ford Focus SE, which the odometer (and CarFax) says has only 38k miles! o_O:unsure:

Sadly it's an automatic, but light research says the FWD slushbox installed is not one of Ford's worst stinkers, so there's that.

Anyhoo, the Mustang Gang gots The Corral.net, etc., so what's the shizz for the Focus??

Google will find them.

I never looked that stuff up for any focuses we had because they never had trouble

And they were the wife's cars

That's true. There will be forums but I am not sure how good they are. Probably lots of keyboard warriors

Theres three types of forums...

1- The kind full of seperate tribes where all they do is argue, everyone thinks their way/brand/model whatever is the only correct way and everyone else is stupid.

2- The kinds full of the autozone enthusiasts, You know "bruh you gotta get a CAI and dump some of that 93 octane in then that bitzzzz will ruuuuun like a beast! haha"

3- TRS

Well that too-good-to-be-true 2010 Focus SE was a BUST... auto trans would NOT kick-down no matter how hard I tried to stomp the rightmost pedal through the floorboard! The kind of low-RPM stuck-in-4th-gear nonsense that "like ta git ya keeled" trying to merge onto the highway!

Even manually dropping from D to L only improved it a little, felt like dropping from 4th to 3rd, instead of 2nd or 1st! Grok/AI says da guilty slushbox is the 4F27E, sez it's FOUR-speeds PLUS overdrive, so WHY only D and L positions???

So then to add to the "fun", as you come to a complete stop, about half the time there's a serious "subterranean" CLUNK from the trans, which makes the car feel like it's lurching about 2 inches farther forward!!!

In retrospect, I think it was stuck in OVERDRIVE, in ALL gears, and only when the VSS got to 0 MPH did it release the OD/planetary gear, hence the CLUNK! Fook beans, I hate autos anyway, doubly so for FWD autos (ask me about the AXOD in my Taurus sometime...), and even if the car did a LOT of sitting around UNused, that's crazy for a trans to be acting up at 37k miles... unless it's electronic-controls/solenoids done in by our heat and HUMIDITY and/or just old age. #HardPass!

So, to summarize; you are slightly dissatisfied with your Focus in some way?

So, I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the Focus automatic transmissions. Apparently a lot of them were a “dual clutch” design that Ford didn’t get quite right.

Also, a lot of newer automatics just have D and L on the shifter, the transmission defaults to 3rd when you put it in L, but there’s usually a switch somewhere that lets you toggle up and down through the lower gears.

The 2010s didn't have the dual clutch jobbie.

That gen was actually pretty damn solid, sucks that the trans in that one is seemingly junk at so low of miles... A past girlfriend of mine bought an 07 with 170k on it and drove it to juuuuuust shy of 250k.. and apart from myself fixing the rockers with some slip-ons she didn't have to do a single thing to that car besides basic maintenance.
