Is this a 3.0l, SOHC 4.0l, or an OHV 4.0l? Its in a 2000 Ranger

Same 3.0l from the beginning of the run?
Not sure I understand exactly what you're asking, but the Vulcan was basically the same the whole run, other than the switch to cam synchronizer and some other ignition/OBD2 related electronics. Same engine mechanically. That 2000 looks nearly exactly the same as my 2005.

Seems like almost everyone wants more power, but the 3.0 seems virtually bulletproof in normal use. I'm a fan.

No, I agree…. Bullet proof engine. Even though your aren’t quite sure what I was asking you answered the question. I’m going to go look at it Sunday
