I have a 89 ranger with stock axles. So 7.5 rear and d28 front. And i really dont want to go to the 8.8 and d31 unless i have too. And my buddy told me that it was gunna be really hard to find gears for the d28. So i looked around and he was right. I cant find any anywhere over 4.56. I was hoping to get some around 5.13 since i have the 2.9 and was planning to run 35s. Does anyone know where i can get any or is 4.56 enough? Its my dd and is on the road mostly, but i do like to hit the trails. Its gunna be about 70 percent on road and 30 percent off road. Thanks:icon_confused:

I'm pretty sure nobody makes 5.13s for a D28 anymore. You don't want them anyway, the pinion is tiny and you sure as hell don't want to run 35s on a D28 with 5.13s.

It really couldn't be easier to upgrade to the D35.

there's NO way I'd try to run 35's on the d28.... 4.56 won't enough gear IMO for 35's with the 2.9 and since you can't get 5.13's for it, you'll have to do an axle swap; either d35 or SAS it.

I love my 4.56's, 33's, and 4.0 in my b2... I wouldn't want any larger tire with smaller motor and same gears.
