Where to look for clutch fluid leak?

Hey folks,

I've got a 90 4x4 BII with the 2.9 and the FM146 Mitsubishi manual tranny. 176k.

And I've needed to top of the clutch fluid every week or so lately to keep being able to shift cleanly.

So obviously I'm not giving enough information to diagnose anything. But can you point me where to look and some common failure points?

Somehow in the back of my head I remember reading here that this clutch slave cylinder is famous for leaking. (and that would mean dropping tranny and replacing cylinder and leak-on clutch, no?)

Slave cylinder failures commonly cause leaks. You can SEE the rest of the system (from under the truck, on the driver's side of the transmission and up the firewall).

Is there brake fluid on the bottom of the bellhousing? Be careful not to confuse it with crankcase oil.

Not being flippant, but I usually suggest looking above the puddle....

Yeah, it's probably the slave cylinder, if the master was leaking your footwell would be slowly filling with fluid.
