Mine snapped. It's discontinued by ford. O'reilly, autozone, advanced, and napa can't get one. Can't find one on ebay. None on rockauto or summit.

Anyone know where I can get a new one?

If I end up going to the junk yard, does anyone know what years/engines will work?

Truck is a 97 2.3

I think you can use right up to the 2001 2.5 from either a Ranger or Mazda B2500. Did you ask about the 2.5 throttle cable and maybe if they can cross reference it with the 2.3 part?

You can also use up to 1992 or 1993 Ford Mustang cable...although it might need a slight modification...I went to the junkyard and got a spare from a Mustang for my 2.0 (carb) and the FI cable works...but it wasn't the same on my truck so I had a welder move things a bit...

With a bit of work you can also replace the actual cable...just cut the engine end off and feed the cable through and put a cable bobble end on...or weld a knob on and use a couple of zip ties to take up the slack if needed...

I think I did a tech bulletin for that years ago...it wasn't the best, but it worked and never pulled off under pressure.

Ah, found it...he cable bobble is a bit blurry, but they are just a brass ball with a hole through them and a bolt that screws into the cable from the side to prevent it from slipping out...not hard to make them if you have the tools...but buying them is easier.

I used a bicycle brake cable to replace the original and it held up for a long time...they are not quite as thick but still strong enough...mine broke because of the way it was secured.

Here is a better image of the cable bobble end....
