I have an 86 ranger that the tank pump is dying and the fuel gage does not work. I have heard of people cutting a hole to gain acess to the pump. I have a shell its and cutting the hole seems like the best idea.

The bed is relatively easy to take off...only a few bolts, and then you can slide it back to get access to the pump. Or you can drop the tank, which IMO is a PITA.
