Where the heck is the oxygen sensor ??

Thinking is BAD. Try every lame idea ever mentioned because someday, monkeys really WILL fly out of your butt.

This is not a magic device. It does very specific things that SOME people -- not Apollo and not the original poster -- understand.

Want to make your truck fast with great fuel mileage? Drop it off a cliff. That's infinite fuel mileage. Hey, you can't say it won't work unless you try it, right?

What in the HELL happened to simple thought. This is not difficult.

And calling this "hating" is exactly equivalent to advocating stupidity. No, you do not have the right to be free of criticism about really stupid assertions you made.

yea your right. what the hell where those Wright brothers thinking off. i mean common a flying machine, sounds like to me they where, how was it MAKG?, advocating stupidity.

The Wrights didn't pull aircraft out of their butts. They DESIGNED it, including revolutionary test equipment. It took them several years. And gliders had been around for some time. They didn't just build an aircraft and fly it. Had they tried, there would be an unmarked grave in North Carolina and Langley would have eventually figured out powered flight (if he didn't drown in the Potomac first).

The Wrights' contribution was largely three-axis control, and to a lesser extent, the aluminum engine block. That's why Langley didn't beat them to it.

Study your history AND your engineering and you won't look so foolish.

Unmotivated silly ideas pulled out of thin air do NOT generate ANYTHING useful. Period. It's a wild myth that "thinking out of the box" doesn't require careful analysis.

come on all you haters. Theres a reason they call it trial and error. ngzcaz just keep trying all the wacky and weird things you can think of until you find something that works, just cause it seems like a dumb idea doesn't mean it will turn out to be one.

when does a post like this warrant a response like this? i guess he missed the "trial and error" part.

really stupid assertions? i told the guy to keep trying, not to take his truck and turn in into some ticking time bomb of tinfoil and renolds wrap! and sense when does supporting creative thinking make someone unable to comprehend the mechanical goings on of a vehicle? I hate seeing that some of the TRS staff have turned into a bunch of self-gratifying, creative nazis.

We're not going to change our opinion. The kid can try it and figure out it if it works, or keep arguing with us and look dumb.

Hey buddy, while you're at it, why don't you leave your old clogged fuel filter on forever. Don't ever change it! That restriction will save you gas.

If you know that leaving a bad fual filter on will HURT your gas mileage, why the hell can't you figure out that blocking your O2 sensor will hurt shit.

Let's see them number and facts. Quit dicking the dog, and get it done. Show us how wrong we really are. So far I haven't seen a single person agree with your stupid bullshit idea. What does that say about your logic? What school did you go to? Did you ride the little yellow bus to school? I don't get it.

Next you'll want somebody to wright you a damn book on how to change the motor cause you burnt the old one trying to save a nickel or dime a day.

Foolish!

O2 and aluminum

Finally someone with some reality. I see lotsof comments here that rindicate criticism rather than admission of lack of knowledge. I would love to see the answer (rather than criticism) to the question on HOW the computer is fooled by the O2 sensor being warmer...if that is what happens.

Anyone really know?

Thanks

Fleamer

No, no, you missed the point.. If you just take it out and cap it, it wouldnt mean a thing. The idea is to make the COMPUTER think its running rich thereby leaning the mixture a bit. And since when does running lean make sludge ? Its the opposite thats correct. If your exhaust is black, you are running rich, simple as that and your oxygen sensor isnt doing what it should. You can replace the sensor, look at the exhaust, looks clean and STILL be running rich. The cat just cleaned up your mess before it exited the tailpipe.
The purpose of the cat is to burn the junk before it exits the exhaust, the problem is the engine has already done what it could and its up to the cat to do the rest. If one leans the mixture ( think computer ) the cat has less to burn, lasts longer as well as the oxygen sensor and it just may help a bit at the pump.
AND......all you guys running to the store for aluminum foil, I want a piece of the action. I mean how cheap does it get even if it doesnt work ?

Ok folks, after a few months of trying this, I can say several things :

1. My engine is just fine contrary to some of you thinking otherwise.
2. Plug checks revealed no abnormalities.
3. Winter is not the time for any kind of testing procedures.
4. There was NO decrease in mileage.
5. If there was any improvement it was slight in nature. This was expected.
6. In cold weather there was a slight hesitation for a shot time, also expected.

Now if anyone is happy there was no 20 per cent increase in mileage, be vindicated, there wasn't. However, no where did I ever expect other than a
SLIGHT, if any, increase. It is amazing in light of todays gas prices that there wouldn't be anything but a " I hope it works " mentality. Instead I liken it to the Christians being thrown to the lions and the crowd cheering or going to the races hoping ( silently ) there would be a crash. No I'm not an engineer
or even have a college degree. I do have the right to think and experiment on my own equipment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.. Apparently some here are so smart they dont have to try anything even if its untried and unproven either way. Well, I admit I'm not that smart. I at least have to try it, kinda like when your Mom told you not to touch the stove because it was hot ? Guess no one did that either..
In the early 70's ( no I'm not a " kid " ) I had a 71 CZ motocrosser that I modified with an adjustable LTR. Thats long travel rear to you " kids " that may think bikes have always had a foot of travel. One was lucky to have 3 to 4 inches of useable travel. Long story short, I have pictures in 1971 to prove
I may well have had the first LTR. Though it did work the shocks weren't up to the task and I had to settle for just another inch of two. In 1975 CZ came
out with the shocks moved up on the swingarm ( what I did 4 years earlier )
Was I a genius ? Of course not.. Just an idea that happened to come to fruition. Of course Yamahas monoshock ( never occurred to me to use a single shock ) quickly put an end to the shocks moved up on the swingarm idea.

I will say this.. I have no intention of taking off the foil and I will test this again under more favorable conditions. No, I'm not suggesting anyone else do the same. I'll be the guinea pig in this experiment. Just hold your fire until the final results are in.. Anything above baseline will be terrific. And how about a thumbs up for trying ?

:)
