i have an 87' ranger 2.9 and i am trying to find the fuel pump relay(s) where is it located ?

Right fender by the air filter. Might be under a plastic cover.

Your question prompted me to find it on mine. Dove into the book and then out to the B and found it:
It is located under the engine fuse box at the passenger fender. Between the box and the fender there is a wide metal clip that releases the top fuse box. Pull it up out of the way and the lower relay box will be exposed along with a couple more smaller metal clips that releases it. Release these two clips and the lower relay box will slide up to the top and then pull away from the metal bracket. Found 3 relays underneath...I suspect these are for fuel pump, ECU (computer), and possibly headlights. Not sure which one is the fuel pump yet, but they are color coded. Hope this helps.

They should be fastened to a plate off of the passenger side fender, green plug is fuel, brown is computer relay.

On your '89 and other Rangers until the end of 1992 you are correct, but on a truck '88 or earlier they don't have that fusebox.

Thanks Allan for correcting me. Reading through all of the posts here, I am humbled by your level of expertise and knowledge about these little beasts!!!
