Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help direct me in finding the fuel gauge sending unit on my 84 2wd Ranger.

Thanks! :)

It is usually part of the fuel pump assembly. At least it is that way in 89 and later Rangers. BTW, that IS in the fuel tank.

well 84 has a mechanical fuel pump. but the sending unit itself is in the tank. when you drop the tank, you will see a metal o-ring. take a brass, or wood punch, and tap it counter-clockwise, pull this out and the sender should be attached to this. ive never pulled one on a ranger, so im not positive, but thats how it is on all my other cars.

Thats how it is on the 84. Also if it is bad NAPA and maybe other parts stores cannot order it. They can order 85 and up once it went to efi

i might be able to help ot if yours is bad. i just have to make sure im getting an after market gauge that needs a new sender, if so, mine only has 78,000 miles on it and it worked beautifully. pm me if you need one.

Thanks for all the help fellas.

I had a feeling this one was in the tank, I just wasn't sure becuase of the mechanical fuel pump.

Thanks again, and I'll keep that PM in mind.
