Where exactly will 33x12.5x15s rub?

Hi,

I bought a 2003 Ranger FX4 L2 over the summer and I want to add a set of 33x12.5x15 Duratracs. I intend to run them on garden variety Pro Comp series 51 15x8 steel wheels with a 3.75-inch backspacing.

I want to avoid lifting this truck more than I absolutely have to. I like the stability of a low lift for wheeling. I'd like to start with Explorer leafs on the back, maybe some longer shackles and a bit of a crank on the front... so, maybe a two inch lift.

I understand that 33s will rub a bit, but I'd like to know where they'll hit. This isn't exactly a show truck, and I'm not against doing some trimming if we're talking about fender or bumper contact. If it's serious interference at the firewall or something, that might change things.

Thanks for any help. I've hunted high and low, but haven't found any solid evidence to answer my question.

Besides the possible sheet metal contact, they'll probably rub on the sway bar. Most of the ones we get in the shop with oversized tires rub there. The good news is, it won't hurt a damn thing, because the bar is smooth and rounded. My 33's rub really bad on the radius arms on my 97 and have been doing so for 10 years with no damage to the tires due to the rounded surface of the arm.

maybe the front valance will rub but i have seen several stock rangers running 33s with minimal rubbing while off road.

crank your t-bars and get an alinement and take it for a ride.

Thanks for the responses. I'm almost glad to hear about the sway bar interference, because that was the first thing I pulled after I bought the truck.

Sounds like it won't be anything I can't solve with a sawzall or a BFH.

Famous last words, right?
