where does this hose go?

From the throttle body there is a port on the bottom that has a small hose which runs through a sensor of some sort then to a black box next to my battery. There is a larger outlet on this box but I have no hose for it and no clue where it goes.

I cannot find any diagrams for this part of the ohv egr system.

It's not part of the EGR system. It's part of the EVAP system. The other hose goes to the gas tank.

Not sure if the pre-'95 used a sensor, it would have a solenoid, but the basic system is the same

That's exactly what I was looking for. How important is that system? Truck seems to run the same with or without it.

I like to keep my evap systems intact. You will probably never notice it run funny with the system not working, probably get a lean condition when it tries to purge though.

The thing with the evap system, it's part of the emissions controls, but unlike AIR or EGR it never costs you anything in power and can only help MPG. It's whole purpose is to capture gas fumes that evaporate (hence the name "EVAP") from the tank and store them to be used later.

Alright, I ask because the black box apparently got close to a flame of some sort while the previous owner had the truck. I don't daily drive the truck So I'm not worried about MPG.

I would at least cap the port at the throttle.

Yeah that was done when I found the box and traced the hose.
