I want to try and make a simple brush guard for the ranger, I can use vast arrays of machining and welding equipment where I work but can't use their steel or commercial supplier. :annoyed: where do you guys get materials??

go find a 4x4 shop in your area, ask them. if they dont carry it, they should know someone. i'm actually getting mine from a landrover/range rover 4x4 shop.

you can also try a welding supply store or a fabrication outfit

I go to a local steel supplier. I get 24' of 1" angle for $11, and 24' of 1.25 HREW Tube for a little over $30.

Unless I am using pipe of course.

I get my metal from the internet. :icon_hornsup:

actually you can do that, ballistic fab sells DOM tubing. it's pricey though, i looked at getting some 2" OD .250 wall for my radius arms and it was gonna be $50 before shipping, almost $90 shipped.....f*ck that

I get mine from a local metal yard.

As a welder, it is my home away from home! A vast sea of metal in many different forms and thicknesses!

Oh, the things I could build........

i live next to memphis so..... yeah, i get it at southern steel or river city steel. depends on who is offering me the discount for being a MSJ member lol

RuffStuff sells DOM tubing now. I get most my metal from Metal Craft Warehouse here in Sacramento, the rest I borrow from my works scrap bin.

Don't forget to try your friendly neighborhood junkers ( scrap hauler away-ers). I have several that keep a loose eye out for usable steel for me, like tubing, plate, some sheet metal, things like that. I also salvage out trucks and cars when I can for myself. Also, if you see/hear of a building being demo'd, try there, too.

from a friend near New York that his dad works for a metal company, I can probably get around 50% off wholesale if I asked. I also can get it wholesale from a local welding shop.

I also find it everywhere.

In the Fort Wayne, IN area I use C.Henry surplus steel or Metal supermarket...Ive also gotten some from Branik Motorsports

look in the yellow pages ,for your local area theres aot of suppilers and the big steel companies usauly supply the smaller ones ,a lot of scarp yards will sell it also as not all incoming scarp is junk ,may be left overs for job sites/ company yard cleanups the shipping online is the killer as most use a box truck/trailer to delivier and the pieces are not in the greatest shape when it arrivies to you and getting a bundle out of one is not always easy (they use a fork lift to put in there and forks dont fit inside most metal shapes and when they do they are not the shape anymore)

onlinemetals.com thats where i get all my metal for projects. reasonable prices too.
