I recently bought 17 inch rims for my 97 Ranger 2WD. The bolt pattern is the universal lug pattern, they fit my bolt pattern, but I can't get any of the lug nuts I own on it, So I'm guessing I need some smaller lug nuts? They were on a chevy cavalier previously, using the other bolt pattern on the rims.

You will need lugs that fit your Ranger. Different styles depending on the wheel, I'm guessing you will need lugs with a shoulder that goes through the wheel center. Too short a shoulder and they won't fit tight and will vibrate, too long a shoulder and they will bottom out and the wheel will be loose. So you need to measure the thickness of the wheel center. Also if they were on a front-wheel-drive Cavalier they probably have a positive offset, meaning that they might hit on the inside.

I like McGard lugs, lifetime guarantee against chips and rust. Jeg's has them.

yea i bought mine off of craigslist too

I'd call the company that made the wheels and ask for their recommendations. Then you should be able to get them anywhere.

Les schwab has all different kinds, if there is one in your area. can test fit them to make sure they fit before you buy them.

I bought some aftermarket lug nuts at autozone, an they worked, but the wheels looked to small, so i took them off an put on my American Racing rims, fills out the wheel well alot better, and FYI, if you buy the aftermarket lug nuts, be careful where you buy them from, the socket they come with strip out VERY easily...grr ( i returned the lug nuts)
