Where can I get a gas tank?

I have a 1997 Ranger and I need a new gas tank. All the local junk yards puncture holes in there tanks and the parts stores cant get tanks.

Rock auto dont carry tanks, and LMC only carries tanks up to 1988

Pull-A-Part in Tuscan, AZ has a 1995 ranger that might be compatible. I'm just saying that you may need to abandon the thought of local junk yard. Check the local Ford dealer however, and be willing to pay a lot. Check eBay. You may have to even consider a fuel cell and have a custom body shop install it.

Assess the risks and take your own risks of repairing the existing one you have - it's plastic. But I would remove it and clean it out with soap and water first.

I went to replace the fuel pump only to find the tabs for the locking ring were rotted off the tank.

Nothing on ebay. Im also not sure what years are compatible as far as gas tanks are concerned. I know that 1993 tru 97 are compatible as far as most parts go, but Im not sure about gas tanks.

If the yards are drilling used tanks to drain them, then the tank should still be solid enough to reuse.

How big of a hole are they putting in?

They puncture three triangular holes about one inch. Then they have the balls to put $25 price tag on there price list with $5 core charge. Who would buy a tank with these holes?

Uhmhhn can you repair/ rig the bad top of your tank? Maybe grafting parts from a holed JY tank. They have to puncture the tanks to remove the gas for liability and safety reasons.
