NOTICE Where are the serious off-road Ford Ranger builds!!?? Show me....

I mean, I’m not sure what value I would put on labor when working on my own vehicle, But I do own a shop and we are $110 an hour to customers. 🤷🏻‍♂️ If you took a stock Ford Ranger to any decent shop in California and ask them to duplicate my build it would cost $100k +.

Well, that puts a number on what your time is worth then. Not that it matters much to the general public. Lord knows we hear enough people complain about how much a garage charges with little consideration to experience and knowledge, cost of equipment, cost to run the business, and so on. Tools, equipment, rent/mortgage, taxes, and much, much more ain't free.

I don't consider mine a serious offroader but I have fun and it works great with the tweaks over the years... one of these years I'll get to building up my Explorer, it'll be more multi terrain capable, still don't plan on it being a rock crawler but it'll do better than the Ranger...

I wouldn't say "serious" but mine is going to be a snow wheeler. still currently has the 2wd trans in. waiting till I find another case to throw my strong box together. Hp 44, 9" rear, chromoly shafts, 5.13 gears, grizzly locker front, spool rear.

Building a 90 lbsc ranger to specifically go on UA 2027.
This year I helped a rig get into and codriver for the event. It was a blast and I'd love to represent the ranger chassis in a "full tilt" adventure build.

Probably won't be everyone's cup of tea but spec'd as follows: 5.3 carbed turbo, superduty axles, 40s, full hydro, 5.13 +air locker rear, 3 link front, 4 link rear, Air shocks with helper bags on the rear, simple interior with ac. 17-19gal fuel cell. Strategic frame bracing coupled with some Dom rocker rails that tie into a hybrid cage.

This combo has worked for me inside of a Cherokee that morphed into a street legal tube buggy that I would drive daily for about 2 years but never got an accepted application for UA since it was lost in the monotony.

I'm in the early stages of the build where I'm stripping down the frame for the engineering crossmembers and engine mounts, cage tie ins and cut file templates for the bracing.

Wish me luck!

what are you running for a carb and intake?. custom holley double sprung and bridged blown through on a wet floor? or a draw through for atomization and angles?

what ignition?

sounds damn interesting.

Simple single plane. I believe it's a knockoff but the casting is good. I have a 4150 600cfm double pumper I'm building for blow thru.
Using the stock ECU I can tune for ignition only which will allow me to run the fans, show ECT, and OBD2 display still. Also I can utilize the map for kpa readout and interpolate iat and timing adjustment by map.
