When Did Driving With Emergency Flashers Become a Thing?

LOL, never use your turn signals - then people will know what you want to do and can keep you from doing it. Never let the other guy have an edge on you!

You know darn well some people think that way.

The only time I can see where flashers on while driving, with the exception of driving slower than a certain speed (15 mph below in PA), is if visibility is poor and you are trying to keep an asshat from barrelling right into your back side because they are driving too fast for conditions. That being said, I rarely ever use my flashers when driving.

There has been a bunch of fatality accidents locally at construction sites on the highway where they have traffic stopped and someone gets plowed into from behind at highway speed.

So I keep an eye on the mirror when stopped and run the flashers until I get someone stopped behind me.

So far so good...

I've done that.

its been well over a year since i've seen a good flasher fest on my commute. Last time it happened though a whole line of cars was hogging the left lane with their flashers on. Meanwhile my F150 has good tires and a coat of rainx on the windshield, I just set the cruise in the middle lane and kept on truckin right on by them. Seems drivers are getting worse and worse.

Lots of NTAC out there drive with no lights in the rain and fog. I get a kick out of the "automatic" headlights that don't come on in the fog and rain. I see so many "people" driving with some sort of lights on in front and nothing in the back. In fog, an accident waiting to happen. Usually a fog colored (white, grey, silver) car too. Light are supposed to be on if the wipers are.

I saved my own life and a couple others earlier this year while stopped on an interstate. Was watch the car approaching from behind at 75 to 80, and eventually goosed it over onto the shoulder. The guy barely cleared the car that was in front of me while swerving into the oher lane, he would have nailed me at that speed.

A good percentage of these fools are on their phones. Maybe not in the snow, but who knows maybe even then.

I make it a point to start tapping the brake pedal to wake up idiots behind me when highway traffic stops suddenly. I guess technically that's like using flashers...

When I was in Chicago in October I saw a handful of people just driving around with their flashers on for no apparent reason, weirded the heck out of me...

I haven't seen anyone in Oregon just driving around with their flashers on, but if it rains people lose their brains... yes in western Oregon... when it snows they leave their brains locked in a dark room then just run around like chickens with their heads cut off... a couple years ago it snowed like 3 inches during work hours, it took me over 2 hours to drive home 30 miles...

It's taken me 4.5 hours to drive 38 miles to work. We're all doomed...

But its not a 2.9l?????

Yes, I agree, slippery roads are not for the timid............or the bold, best to stay off the roads, if possible, for a few days until they have wrecked their cars and decided maybe they shouldn't drive at these times

I'm lucky that I lead a life where there's nothing ever important enough to warrant me needing to actually drive when it's that bad out. Usually the only time I go out in the snow is because I ran out of cigarettes, bourbon, or cheese. Or I'm just bored and want to go watch the idiot parade...

It's actually against the law in Florida, but that doesn't stop a lot of folks.

I'm surprised it's against the law in Florida. Every time I've seen someone driving with their flashers on over here it was someone with Florida plates driving through the mountains.
