when a ranger's 2.9 engine's ignition module or computer are malfunctiong - how did you determine, from you past experiences, which one it was ??

what were the symptoms for each one, as to how your vehicle was reacting, before you discovered which one was causing the problem ??

when a ranger's 2.9 engine computer is malfunctiong, does it completely fail altogether, where the vehicle won't run at all ?? or will the engine's computer, sometimes, fail in such a way that it will cause weird driveability issues, until you find that it may be causing the problem ??

the ranger's 2.9 ignition module plays a big part in regulating the engine timing and has an affect on adjusting the fuel injectors, too, doesn't it ??

it would be interesting to read your comments, in regard to these questions, from your own personal experiences..

AS far as the TFI or ignition module goes....found in the Tech Library here on TRS.

Classic signs of it being faulty are;

~Runs fine cold, but when warmed up, nearly or at operating temp, it stalls. Sometimes spits and sputters, sometimes shuts off like a switch. Won’t restart until after it cools off. Might not do this unless it is at lower RPM, like coming to a stop sign.

bet you find more of your info your looking for in the Tech Library too.
