Do you have to get longer studs when using a 1/4 inch wheel spacer?

You shouldn't have to unless the stud is less than 3 full threads longer than the grip of the lugnut
With 1/4", you should be fine.
I recommend ET lugs with any spacer. Available for $25 for 20 on ebay. 1/2-20, tapered seat, awesome product!
