Hey guys i need some help, i got the dana 35 up front and my wheel bearings blow about every 2 or 3 weeks, ive probably bought about 8 or 9 sets for both, replace the rotors, and i check the lock washers weekly and they still go. But i have one hunch my "slingers(i think thats the name of it but im not 100%0 " are useless with the condition of them but i cant find any one who sells them. Could it be the slingers or something eles im missing.

thanks alot

Not sure what "slingers" you're speaking of... Maybe describe the part a bit and where it's at?

As for the bearings, are you using good quality ones? (Timken)?
If so, you may be overtightening the preload on them (inner nut). They only need 15 INCH-lbs before you torque down the outer nut.

Are you packing them with good quality grease before you install them?

the "slinger" is this seal thats on the inside of the knuckle "oposite of the spindle " over tightening possibly i had the socket to fit the lock nut but lost it. i use napa parts only not really sure on the brand name.

yes i bought some synthetic 4x4 grease that was worth a bit. And make sure their packed fully before i put em on.

thanks for all the help guys

drive alot of highway miles? maybe over packing and overheating the bearings??

sounds like they are either way too tight or way to loose.

ok i gotta get me a new socket for the locknuts. anyone got a link to one ive never found one for the 35 online.

thanks again guys

Its the same as the 1/2 ton ford spindle nut socket.
