replaceing the wheel beraring on my 96 ranger 4wd 3.0 with the d 35 are the inner nut that goes against the bearing supose to be hand tight and the outer
one tightened to 35 lbs i dont know when i took them off they were both loose

Are they manual or automatic hubs? Also if you have a Haynes manual you can look it up in the front, those nuts are in the Torque Specifications list.

Ok that's what I have. The inner nut is supposed to be torqued down to 35 ft/lbs then backed off a quarter turn and tightened back down to 16 inch/lbs. The outer nut is supposed to be tightened down to a minimum of 150 ft/lbs and a lot of guy will go to 200 or even 250 if they have a torque wrench big enough. If your nuts could be taken off by hand when you pulled the hubs off then that's bad and it's a good thing you caught it.

Fixed it for you.
