Im comming home from school, I noticed a slight wobble on a turn in the parking lot, I shouldve stopped there to check it. I knew my wheel bearings were kinda bad, they wobble a little so i figured it was fine and kept going. I go down the road then make a right turn, I thought it was making a weird sound, but the brake pad had come out of the caliper yesterday, so i figured it was something with the brakes again, ill check it when i get home, its only 2 blocks. Well im comming to a stop sign so i start to brake, and it all happens at once. I see a wheel lug fall off, the tire wobbles, i feel it in the steering, hit the brakes more, the tire comes off and bam the rotor hits the ground. I slide about a foot on the rotor. Scary as hell, I was thinking its fucked, and who loosened my lug nuts!!?

I had taken the tire off yesterday to fix the brake pad, im almost positive I torqued down the lug nuts. This is also the wheel with the broken hub. I figured the squeaking sound was because of the broken hub on Saturday, then the bakes on Sunday, now im thinking it was the wheel bearings. Either way i had to change them, when i put the tire back on i noticed it was wobly as hell and it wasnt the ball joint. It may have been from hitting the ground so hard, but i know it was bad before then.

Its pretty scary seeing a wheel come off while youre driving, I was lucky it was right at a stop sign and not on the street before where i was doing 35mph+ I can only imagine what wouldve happened then.

BTW, does anyone know if bad wheel bearings can cause the lugs to come loose, or was it someone trying to kill me? I think the brake pad comming off, the wheel comming off and the wheel bearings are all connected.

my mom had that happen at 65
from a dealership

but i think you just forgot to tighten the lugs
or you have a hitman on your tail
either wat good luck man

i dont think ive pissed off anyone lately so, it must have been something I did. but i usually make sure to tighten the lugs.

sounds like you need to drop some money in your front end. brakes, wheel bearings, seals, and ball joints since they are probably close to needing it. do it before some one dies.

or you die from one of those going:bad: haveing the ball joints at 65 dont sound fun:shok:

yeah i might change the other side if i dont sell it soon. its wobbly too

buddy of mine lost a tire on his old van doin about 85, they never did find the tire.....luckily it just killed the rotor and the balljoints, everything else held togethere

im lucky the rotor was ok, got a bit scratched on the edge but none on the braking surface

last weekend my truck ceased up on the freeway. it was my wheel bearing but my wheel never came off. then yesterday my rear diff took a shit on the same freeway but i was able to make it home. i posted pics of it.

good to hear your safe man. that can be some scary stuff!
